The Recycled Material Standard (RMS) ARC Registry will enable stakeholders to register qualified ARC-generating projects and track the issuance, transfer, and retirement of ARCs, assuring that there is no double counting.
The RMS has defined a new environmental commodity referred to as the Attributes of Recycled Content, or simply ARCs. The ARC trading system has been modeled after other environmental commodity programs such as renewable energy certificates or carbon offsets.
Purchasing and retiring ARCs provides financial support to investments in the North American supply chain which helps to advance the use of recycled materials. When ARCs are retired, companies are able to make claims as further described in the RMS Label and Trademark Guidelines.
The registry will be available soon. In the meantime, we encourage stakeholders to get involved by preparing for RMS certification and learning more about ARCs. Sign up using our contact form to ensure you receive updates about the RMS and the ARC Registry.
